Before transitioning into coaching, Susan was an elementary school teacher for 12 years. She grew up in the Pittsburgh area as a competitive swimmer swimming summer league, YMCA, Club, High School, College and Masters. She still swims laps today for the great exercise! Coach Susan’s group spends a lot of time working on proper stroke technique and preparing to swim outside of their comfort zones while at the same time making friends with their teammates and having fun! Susan is married to Dan (also a swimmer), has a daughter, Melanie (a Special Olympics swimmer), a son, Brad (former swimmer and current college swimming coach) and Rosie (a water loving golden retriever).
Coach Joanna started swimming at the local pool in Michigan at the ripe old age of 5. As a military brat, she learned how to swim on various teams and made many friends along the way. When her family settled at PAX, she joined the PAX River Dolphins summer team and then SMAC and STAR age group teams. In high school, she was an assistant coach for the Dolphins and later coached for an age group swim club in Mechanicsburg, PA. Meanwhile, she continues to swim laps almost on a daily basis and has been on two masters swim teams. Swimming provides kids many opportunities for making lifelong friendships, lessons in overcoming obstacles and pushing yourself outside the comfort zone. Coach Joanna strives to teach these lessons in every practice while focusing on stroke technique and having fun. Joanna is married with two children who have enjoyed swimming on Rockfish and the local high school teams.
